It’s taken me a while to write this blog, mostly because I have been distracted from truth.
Distracted by the world.
Distracted from my purpose.
Distracted from living, fully alive.
Distraction can look like many things: social media, worry, comparison, drinking, partying, Netflix, busyness, work, friends, activities, etc. Though many of the above are positive, there is an attack on our attention and the enemy will use even good things for the contrary.
When our eyes are off of the truth, we are distracted.
Distractions tend to sneak up on us and consume us before we ever understand what’s happening. They’re tactics that tend to shift our priorities, further us from seeing who we really are, revert our eyes from what feeds our souls and cause us to forget what has been life-giving to us before we were so caught up in the latest tiktoks.
How does this happen so easily? Why would we rather watch other people live their lives virtually than truly live our own?
Maybe we don’t really know how to live. Maybe life seems like too much. Maybe our mind is telling us to give up and just go through the motions instead of seeking true contentment.
We were not born for life to happen to us. We were born to LIVE. Wholehearted.
As Brene Brown says, “ wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness.”
So to live fully, we need to know our worth? That seems so simple. But when you’ve never known that you are worthy of love and belonging, it’s hard to know how to start acting like it.
I’m here to tell you- you are worthy. Why? Someone literally died because He loves you so much. Your worth is calculated based on what someone is willing to pay for it- Jesus paid His life for yours. You are worth it. Read that again, you, my friend, are worth it.
You are fully seen, fully known and fully loved.
There is no need to find a distraction from your feelings of unworthiness- feelings are fleeting and can mislead you, but the truth stands.
How can you lead a life free from distractions?
I’m not entirely sure. But you can build your life on the truth and there will be a good chance the distractions that once held you back, will lose their power. When you live from a place of knowing who you are and where your value lies, nothing can steal your life from you.
I challenge you- choose to live your life with intention and purpose. Choose to weed the garden of your mind, stripping it of lies and distractions. Choose to live wholehearted, you are worth it.
